Exploring bearing geometry and lubrication theory
Martin Gaudet will discuss and illustrate the principles of sliding element bearings as used in watches and clocks, the geometry required for hydrodynamic lubrication, optimal life and lowest friction, the limits of wear and its effect on proper function, a description of the function of lubricants, and the effect of various lubricant properties as they apply to clocks and watches.
Martin is a recent new member to the OVWCCC with an extensive mechanical engineering background. Martin has taught Millwrights at St Lawrence College and Mechanical Engineering at Dawson College for many years. Martin started Gaudet Machine Works Inc. in 1992 and continues to operate the 3500 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Bainsville, Ontario.
