Introduction to Basic Wristwatch Servicing - Daniel Burgoyne

The wristwatch basic intro workshop is for beginners interested in learning to work and service their own wristwatches, manual winding or quartz.

We will cover the work approach to start working on your own watches, with a view to cover the most frequent problems seen for repair or replacement of parts, handling, disassembly, cleaning, assembly, oiling and, minor troubleshooting.

This is a 3-hour workshop; more topics can be covered in additional workshops if there is demand. Participants have to provide their own wristwatch and tools to enable them to open the case and disassemble some elements of the movement (see list of tools required below).

The instructor will bring one Horotec Compact tester for quartz watches, a demagnetiser and, a crystal tool or two.

The type of watch and movement the student should select for the course is PREFERABLY a quartz or manual wind Japanese, European, or American (manual only) model in running order (no broken or missing parts) with or without a bracelet/band.

We will not have time to cover automatic winding watches, but you if you chose to bring one as your main watch, the instructor will not be able to help you in case of problems.

Prerequisite: it is recommended, but not compulsory to have completed a pocket watch servicing course before registering for this course.
